Xin Angeni Ni A Soechavati
January 3, 1998 - September 23, 2008
.beauty and brains.
Whelped on January 3, 1998, Xin Angeni Ni A
Soechavati was sired by Netherlands and International Ch.
Hooch Ni Soechavati, delivered by her dam Funquest E Soechavati
Kyag and was the granddaughter of the impeccable Azziz Ni
A Soechavati.
We
all became storytellers from the very day of her arrival
in Canada. My husband excitedly told me all about the Friesian
horses that accompanied our little black/tan girl on her
long flight overseas. I also had to hear all about the 8-hour
car ride filled with her protesting screeching as she made
her way up north. It wasn't until many years later that my
daughter Aislinn told me about feeding a baby puppy French
fries in her attempt to calm Angeni down. All that howling!
Kigh, our first TM, was such a laid-back boy
that my initial meeting with Angeni led me to wonder what
it was that I had signed on for. I loved her as soon as she
allowed herself to be held but our very first snuggle was
over almost as quickly as it began. She immediately struggled
to show herself off as an unfettered being. She couldn't
get away from all of us fast enough in order to investigate
her new surroundings. Something convinced me right then and
there that those Friesians had used their traveling time
wisely by whickering secret horse truths in her ear. I'm
sure their stories were all about the importance of freedom,
magical beauty and the awe of poetry of motion. And Angeni
took it all to heart for the rest of her life.
She
was definitely not a big girl but she more than made up for
it with her larger-than-life character. As time passed, Miss
Angeni became irrevocably linked with the words "antics," "adventures," and
any number of "Angeni-isms." I'm pretty sure that Cupid's
arrow found its target as soon as our boy Kigh set eyes on
her. He adored her. And those tender feelings knew no bounds
even when, as a young puppy, she broke his tail in three
places during one of their play sessions. Her amazing strength
and obstinate pig-headedness were only equaled by her ability
to problem-solve. She housed the reincarnated soul of the
Great Houdini and she became a canine escape artist extraordinaire
as she wanted no fenced pen, yard or meadow of acreage to
hold her. Possessing the natural agility of a wild cat and
equipped with invisible suction cups on her paws, it soon
became apparent that fencing was simply an object to jump
or climb over. Six-foot heavy gauge fencing wasn't even a
challenge but when all else failed, it was something to bite
through or tunnel under. It took years for us to build the
reinforced Angeni-proof facility.
As
she matured, our girl represented the complete package of
brains and beauty. She became an exquisite bitch that typified
true excellence. Always a joy to behold, she symbolized a
total picture of type, balance with fluid movement, wonderful
drive and awe-inspiring natural agility. Angeni was typically
aloof with strangers but ever-loving and protective of her
charges. Quick to react to any change that took place in
the yard, she exhibited outstanding guarding tendencies in
a determined effort to take care of her property.
As the years passed, the greatest difference
in her came from her new-found love to be petted, groomed
and adored. When we heard her deep satisfying groan as we
rubbed behind her ear or when she was enjoying a deep and
restful sleep, it never failed to elicit some smiles from
all of us.
Breeding History
Angeni was dam to our "B" litter (1 dog/3 bitches)
that was born on March 1, 2002, when she was put to ATMA
Ch. Himalaya's Lokeshvara (Norbu). She also safely delivered
the "C" litter on January 23, 2003. That breeding with ATMA/ARBA
Ch. Himalaya's Obassy Kalu (Andre) brought us 7 puppies (4
dogs/3 bitches.) Angeni helped to contribute to, what I think,
are some of the typiest dogs that StormnAngels has produced
to date. While all of her children went on to become loving
companions in homes here and abroad, it is with a great deal
of satisfaction that many of them also went on to promote
various breeding programs. Her daughter, StormnAngels Convair
Jet (Memphis) and her grandson, Citadel's Black Velvet (Beyul)
still reside with us but you can visit with more of her direct

Angeni spent the first eight weeks of her life
with the Reusen family at the Ni a Soechavati kennel and
we want to thank them for the opportunity and privilege of
caring for this independent and elegant girl. She certainly
charged into our hearts and home with her own brand of Angeni
flair.
Every dog that becomes an integral family member
leaves a colourful and indelible palette of memories as a
legacy. For those left behind, these memories are precious
treasures that mark an exceptional life. I learn something
different from each one of my dogs and each lesson helps
me to build a better-rounded picture of what I believe the
Tibetan Mastiff is meant to be. Angeni helped to teach me
about patience. She helped me to learn the lessons of acceptance,
compromise and the understanding that each individual Tibetan
Mastiff spirit is distinct. I don't know much about rainbow
bridges but I do know that if there is such a place out there,
my Miss Angeni has found it. And the rainbow only shines
brighter because she is there.
She runs through
